Our Exam Process

The one thing that sets us apart from most dental offices is our comprehensive Smart Dental Exam.

An examination if required by Kentucky law prior to any dental cleaning or treatment. Therefore, we feel very strongly that it should be the most thorough and accurate examination we can possibly provide.

Your Clinical Treatment Advisor will guide you through the exam and answer any questions you have throughout the process. Once all the necessary information has been gathered your primary doctor will evaluate and discuss the findings and present you with a diagnosis and treatment options if any are necessary.

An accurate examination, diagnosis, and treatment plan is the most important part of having a lifetime of good oral health.

It is estimated that a large percentage of medical and dental conditions end up being misdiagnosed; and the inaccurate treatment plans can result in a lifetime of problems, discomfort, and increased cost.

At Smart Dental & Hygiene Express you can rest assured that you are receiving the most accurate exam and treatment plan possible, since your exam results may be seen by an entire team of professionals. Your exam findings and treatment plan are digital, therefore, as soon as anything such as an x-ray is performed it is immediately uploaded to you personal file. Your Treatment Advisor will alert our Oral Diagnosis Team that your file is ready for review. Dr. Jerry Mayes heads this Oral Diagnosis Team which includes specialists such as periodontists, pedodontists, oral surgeons, endodontists, and orthodontists. This "virtual" collaboration on exam, diagnosis, and treatment planning is a first in the dental industry, and is no additional cost to you. Most of the time your primary doctor will have any pertinent information back from this team prior to the conclusion of your appointment.

Your Smart Dental Exam will include:

A complete digital charting of your existing oral conditions.

Once your primary doctor and the Oral Diagnosis Team develops your final treatment plan they will go over in detail the diagnosis and proposed treatment options. The first option will always be the treatment plan that achieves optimal oral health, lasts the longest, and fits into your budget. Your treatment plan is yours to keep or take to anyone for treatment; however, we feel that our doctors, hygienist and clinical team is the best in the business. We pride ourselves in that we can offer such a high level of care for such an affordable cost.
